Tarek Sherif

TAREK SHERIF
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

One of the founders of Medidata Solutions, Tarek has served as chief executive officer since 2001. Tarek has effectively orchestrated the evolution of the company to become one of the industry leaders in clinical technology and services, now relied upon by leading biopharmaceutical companies worldwide. Throughout Tarek's tenure, Medidata Solutions has experienced significant growth in order to support ongoing and new clinical trials in more than 100 countries. In his role as Chairman and CEO, Tarek is involved in business development, as well as general and strategic management including budgets, sales and marketing, product development, finance, human resources, and customer and partner relations.

Tarek brings to Medidata Solutions more than 16 years of broad-based financial and managerial experience. He has founded and managed a variety of technology and service driven businesses, focusing on strategic initiatives, financial management and analysis. Prior to forming Medidata Solutions, Tarek was the managing member of a partnership focused on public and private investments in technology and life science companies, where he managed both long and short equity hedge funds.

Previously, he co-managed a privately held equity fund specializing in publicly traded technology companies, including those in the healthcare and information technology fields. He has also served as assistant vice president of corporate finance at General Electric Capital Corporation, and mergers and acquisitions analyst at Brown Brothers Harriman & Company.

Tarek received his B.A. in Economics from Yale University in 1984. Following a career on Wall Street, Tarek attended Columbia Business School where he earned a degree in business administration and finance and graduated first in a class of 650 students in 1991.

Glen de Vries

GLEN DE VRIES
President

Glen is one of the founders of Medidata Solutions and the original architect of the Medidata Rave® electronic data capture and clinical data management system. Since the company's inception, Glen has been responsible for driving Medidata's technology vision, building the company's critical sponsor and partner relationships, and helping to forge a new eClinical reality for the biopharmaceutical industry. He has also been instrumental in drawing top talent from the clinical research community and enterprise software and IT industries to bring a range of expertise to the Medidata team.

Prior to his work with Medidata Solutions, Glen's pioneering efforts in online physician/patient relationships were featured by The New York Times and drew the attention of the Office of Health and Human Services. He has over 10 years of experience in medical software development, including Electronic Health Records and consumer-targeted products. As president of OceanTek, a web development firm focused on applications for the healthcare industry, he was the chief consultant for a Fortune 500 global e-commerce project, and was the author of web security components currently in use by thousands of web sites and corporate intranets.

Glen has studied probabilistic algorithms at the Courant Institute of Mathematics (New York University) and received his B.S. in molecular biology and genetics from Carnegie Mellon University. His subsequent work at Columbia University focused on both research science and medical informatics, working on a blood assay for the detection of micro-metastases in prostate cancer patients, and creating a paperless clinical data management system. His peer-reviewed papers have been published in Cancer, the Journal of Urology, Molecular Diagnostics, Urology, and Urologic Clinics of North America.

Glen has been a featured presenter at multiple Drug Information Association (DIA) meetings in U.S., as well as DIA Japan, SCDM, Bio-IT World, BIOPHEX, Partnerships with CROs, the National Medical Association Annual Meeting, and American Urological Association Annual Meetings.

Cory Douglas

CORY DOUGLAS
Chief Financial Officer

As chief financial officer at Medidata Solutions, Cory is responsible for leading the company's finance and investor relations functions. Cory joined Medidata in 2008 as principal accounting officer and played a key role in preparing Medidata for its initial public offering in 2009. Cory has more than 20 years of accounting-related experience, including financial auditing, internal control implementation and monitoring, revenue recognition and public company controllership.

Prior to joining Medidata, Cory served as senior vice president, controller of The BISYS Group, Inc (formerly NSYE listed, acquired by CitiBank), where he was responsible for a variety of duties including accounting, taxes, budgeting and planning. Previously, Cory held various roles of increasing responsibility at DoubleClick (formerly NASDAQ listed) including senior vice president, controller. At DoubleClick, Cory oversaw significant financial operation and internal control improvement, while managing all aspects of accounting and reporting. Cory has also held various corporate and divisional accounting roles at Colgate-Palmolive Company (NYSE: CL), primarily in support of international operations. Cory began his career at Arthur Andersen and Co.

Cory holds a MBA from The Ohio State University and received his B.S. in accounting from San Francisco State University.

Steven Hirschfeld

STEVEN HIRSCHFELD
Executive Vice President, Customer Operations

Steve brings more than 20 years of broad-based sales and management experience in healthcare and technology related fields to his position of executive vice president of customer operations at Medidata Solutions. Steve is responsible for creating and maintaining superior client and partner relations, building and directing the company's global sales force, and implementing the necessary processes for the achievement of the company's revenue goals and objectives.

Prior to joining Medidata Solutions, Steve served as vice president of sales at I-Many, where he played in integral role in transforming the organization into the leading contract management and trade relationship management software company, culminating in a successful initial public offering in July 2000. Previously, Steve spent five years at the Janis Group as a business development executive where he launched and managed several of JGI's emerging business units and directed the corporate marketing department. At Janis, he helped evolve the single-product company to a world-class systems integrator with multi-vendor, complete solution offerings for the industrial middle market.

Steve received his B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Delaware in 1984.

Lineene Krasnow

LINEENE KRASNOW
Executive Vice President, Product and Marketing

Lineene brings more than 25 years of marketing, business development and sales experience to her role as executive vice president of global product and marketing at Medidata Solutions. Her responsibilities include defining and building the company's brand, defining and delivering product offerings, and developing and executing product marketing, partner marketing, marketing communications and public relations programs.

Lineene joined Medidata Solutions after holding various executive positions at IBM. She most recently served as vice president of corporate marketing management, where she drove significant improvements in the design and contribution of marketing by leading company-wide initiatives. Previously, as vice president of worldwide marketing management for IBM's Personal Systems Group, Lineene created IBM Easy Access for 200 global clients, ensuring cost-efficiency in the evaluation and procurement of customized PC-based solutions.

Lineene's other positions included vice president of marketing for IBM Personal Systems Asia-Pacific in Tokyo, where she launched customer direct procurement of personal computer products across Asia; vice president of Intel-based server marketing for IBM in Raleigh, NC, and vice president of marketing and communications at IBM PC Company in Somers, NY.

Lineene received her B.B.A. in Marketing from the University of Notre Dame.

Bryan Spielman

BRYAN SPIELMAN
Executive Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development

As executive vice president, strategy and corporate development, Bryan supports the office of the CEO and President and collaborates with the executive team in crafting Medidata's overall corporate strategy. The strategy is inclusive of how Medidata interacts with enterprise partners, develops and implements M&A, and interfaces with industry and financial communities.

Bryan brings more than 20 years of experience to Medidata Solutions with a strong background in driving financial strategy and transactions through M&A and technology partnerships. Prior to joining Medidata, Bryan was a founding partner of the Technology Investment Banking Team at Centerview Partners, where he acted as an advisor and thought partner to management teams across the global technology sector. He was responsible for transaction evaluation, corporate strategy, strategic positioning, capital structure advisory and investor communications. Previously, Bryan held leadership roles in the Technology Investment Banking Groups at UBS Investment Bank and Bear Stearns. He worked extensively with domestic and international technology companies and technology focused private-equity sponsors on a broad range of financial advisory assignments, including securing and executing M&A, capital markets and financing transactions. Prior to entering the financial services industry, Bryan led a strategic and information technology consulting practice focused on the competitive telecommunications and utility industries at DMR Consulting Group.

Bryan holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from New York University, Stern School of Business.
